View AnswerSeveral industry-leading manufacturers offer power wheelchair bases specifically engineered for high-weight capacities. According to current specification data, the following models are frequently configured for bariatric mobility needs:
- TDX SP2 HD: This model offers the highest weight capacity at 500 lbs. It uses a mid-wheel drive configuration that maintains a compact 26-inch turning radius, making it a versatile choice for both indoor and outdoor use.
- QUICKIE Q700-ULTRA: This base supports up to 450 lbs. It is highly regarded for indoor maneuverability, as it features the tightest turning radius at 24.5 inches and leads in battery range (14–17 miles).
- ROVI X3: Designed for users up to 400 lbs, this front-wheel drive model is prioritized for outdoor stability. It features the highest max slope rating at 10°, allowing it to handle steep inclines and uneven ground better than most mid-wheel models.
When choosing between these brands, users should consider that mid-wheel drive systems provide superior indoor agility, while front-wheel systems like the ROVI X3 offer enhanced stability for traversing soft ground or climbing curbs.
