How do I Qualify for Coverage of Durable Medical Equipment under Medicare?
To qualify for coverage of durable medical equipment (DME) under Medicare Part B, you must meet four core eligibility pillars. We are here to help you navigate these requirements to ensure you receive the mobility solutions you need.
- Medical Necessity: Your treating physician must deem the equipment medically necessary to address a specific health condition or assist with a therapeutic purpose.
- Home Use: The device must be appropriate for use within your residence and intended for everyday use in the home.
- Valid Prescription: You must have a written prescription (also called a detailed order) from a doctor who is enrolled in Medicare. This prescription must follow a face-to-face encounter with your physician to assess your mobility limitations.
- Medicare-Enrolled Supplier: You must obtain your equipment from a supplier that is enrolled in the Medicare program and accepts assignment.
At our Spring Valley location, we specialize in Custom Motorized Wheelchairs and manage the complex paperwork, including the Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN), to streamline your approval. We also provide initial patient evaluations and personalized fittings to ensure your equipment is tailored to your exact needs.
Please note: Results may vary. You should verify Medicare/insurance coverage as we do not guarantee coverage, and you must consult your treating healthcare professional to determine medical necessity.
