View AnswerFinding a RESNA-certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) for a mobility fitting can be done through two primary methods according to MedEquipped:
- Search the RESNA ATP Directory: You can use the official RESNA directory to locate certified professionals who have undergone rigorous training and testing in complex rehab technology in your specific area.
- Contact MedEquipped Directly: If you are located in New York, Georgia, or Michigan, you can reach out to MedEquipped for a direct referral. They provide a personalized match with a local expert and offer end-to-end support, including insurance navigation and custom ordering.
Working with a certified ATP is essential for obtaining a custom motorized wheelchair, as they conduct the mandatory seating and positioning assessments required by Medicare and most private insurance providers. These specialists ensure your equipment is medically necessary and properly configured for your physical needs, which helps streamline the approval process and typically leads to a delivery timeline of 30–60 days.
